This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.For all external applicants, we are targeting a start date on or after January 10th 2022 for this position.”



About the role:

The Cyber Defense Manager will help drive the growth of the team and Cyber Defense practices across the global GM environment.  This role will be responsible for managing a group of technical individuals tasked with performing active threat simulations to test prevent, identify, and respond capabilities within the GM environment.



Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Passion for identifying and detecting security weaknesses or malicious activity across a variety of applications, platforms and technologies
  • Define consistent controls testing methodologies for technologies within the GM environment
  • Integrate threat modeling practices into identification and detection practices
  • Oversee multiple team members involved with testing of security controls within the GM environment
  • Identification, support and execution of Cyber Defense strategies
  • Act as a coach and mentor to team members, sharing knowledge associated with tools and practices utilized for risk identification, prioritization, mitigation and detection
  • Proven ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical business area representatives.
  • Experience in large scale information technology implementations and operations preferred.
  • Organize training activities and keep the penetration testing team up to date with emerging security related issues
  • Keep current with vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures as well as devoting time to research and development activities

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field acceptable with two years of experience in information security.
  • 5-7 years hands-on experience in either: Detect/Respond, Offensive Security, Application Security, Vulnerability Management
  • Experience leading a successful team or initiative
  • Programming experience in Java, C++, Perl or Python
  • Experience with infrastructure, application and controls testing
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications, and network protocols
  • Hands-on experience with commercial and open-source network, infrastructure and application security testing tools
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding collaboration, team, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work independently and manage workload with organization to meet expectations and objectives
  • Absorb, retain and organize information gathered from multiple sources and in a variety of formats
  • High level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Willingness to pursue or already possess one of the following certifications is a plus: CISSP, GIAC, CEH, CISA
